Like the woman at the well who had five husbands Jesus told her if she drank from HIS living waters she would never thirst again... Jesus wants you to give HIM ALL Of your pain, your hurts, your failures, your life devastation and HE wants to heal your broken heart. Then the wholeness, restoration, healing and deliverance can begin.
I am not casting stones.... I have many witnesses from my long ago past that can verify that I drank many people under the table, partied with the best and out lasted all of them every time. I am not proud of it... just baring my scars so you can see that God can deliver.
He can heal the broken hearted... even if it has been crushed for a lifetime... I Promise to you that I am a living testimony. I know what it is like to do something over and over that you hate and you don't want to do but you have no control over it... GOD CAN DELIVER You!
I'm not saying that once you conquer the demons of addiction that you will never have to face them again because I know Satan would love nothing better than for me to fall back into a lifestyle of turning to drugs or alcohol to numb the pain or make life much more tolerable.
But I can tell you that I do know the freedom of giving it all to God time and time again... and again and having HIM remove the weights that were baring so heavy on me thus removing the need to alleviate the pain. I know what it is like to be tempted and to succumb to that temptation. Now, I don't want to go back to that lifestyle because I've been on both sides of the spectrum. There is nothing on the side of alcohol and drugs but darkness and death.
When I give it to God then I get all the more liberty, with a lasting freedom that doesn't come with the price tag of a hangover or the cost of expensive addictions. Sometimes it comes instantly ... but for me it took five years of me hating it and asking God to take it from me. I finally got delivered in 1995. He can do that for anyone. Give HIM ALL Of your pain! Give HIM all of your hurts... You can give it to HIM through a simple prayer. And when you say one from your own heart with your own words that is even better.
